PRINCIPLES OF THE WORD IN PRAYER.

Reflect on the power of the Word and its relationship to effective prayer today:

1. Whatever we ask God to do in our lives, in the lives of others, or in the world, must be based on His Word. Gods purpose is to be both the motivation and the content of our prayers.
2. Without Gods Word as their basis, our prayers have no foundation. They are based merely on our opinions, desires, and feelings. Such prayers are powerless to effect change.
3. Prayer is speaking the Word to God exactly as He gave it to us.
4. There is no difference between what God gave the people in the Bible as the basis for their effective prayers and what He gives us to work with. Both rely on what God has given all Mankind His Word.
5. God wants to use His power in the world; however, for Him to do so, we must know how to appropriate His Word. We must understand it and apply it properly.
6. God Himself is speaking in the Word.
7. Gods Word is the foundation of His power. His power is a reflection of His greatness.
8. The Word reveals Gods nature to us.
9. A cardinal principle of answered prayer is belief in the trustworthines of the One to whom you’re praying. Belief is trust in action.
10. The Word is alive and active on our behalf.
11. The Word builds faith in us.
12. The Word says much about how God answers the prayers of believers.
13. The Word prepares us for prayer.
