POWER OF INTERCESSION

I Timothy 2:1-4, Ezekiel 22:30

When you stand in the gap for your beloved one before God releases His anger, if you know what to do, you can prevent the anger from coming at’ all. Ultimately both you and your loved one will not receive blow.

Intercession actually occurs when somebody wants to collide with your friend and you stand in between so that instead of the blow landing on your loved one, it will land on you. A very good example is found in the story of David versus Goliath. When Goliath challenged the children of Israel and David volunteered to go, he was saying that the blow that would have fallen on Israel should fall on him. Another example was the time Israel sinned and God said He would wipe them out. Moses begged Him to spare them and remove his name from the book of life instead. He was telling God to give him blow He wanted to give the children of Israel and let Israel go free.

When you stand in the gap for your beloved one before God releases His anger, if you know what to do, you can prevent the anger from coming at’ all. Ultimately both you and your loved one will not receive blow. David did not get a blow from Goliath because he knew what to do.

Intercession is a very serious form of prayer. Many people do not want to intercede. People prefer to pray for themselves. If you do not intercede for others, you are missing something very precious. It is whatsoever you sow that you will reap. When you are praying for others, you will find prayers coming back to you. May times, when you fail to pray for others, it is not only others who will suffer, you will suffer also. God says you are to weep with those who weep. This implies that when you are supposed to be in joy, if something evil happens to somebody by your side and that fellow is weeping, whether you like it or not, you must join in the weeping.

In Job 42:20 the bible says: And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. ‘THE CAPTIVITY OF JOB TURNED WHEN HE PRAYED FOR HIS FRIENDS AND NOT WHEN HE PRAYED FOR HIMSELF’.

INTERCESSION FOR WHOM?

We must intercede for people in AUTHORITY. I Timothy 2:1-4 says: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

If you do not pray for God to take control of the lives of your leaders, they can cause you much trouble. If you intercede for them, you will be able to live a peaceable and quite life.

You must also intercede for your HUSBAND. Many women do not pray for their husbands. The spend all the time telling us how terrible is the husband. Remember that your husband is the head of the family. If something goes wrong with him, he will not be the only one who will suffer. If you love your children, intercede for your husband.

All you men who boast of your spirituality and leave your WIVES behind are looking for trouble. If a man falls, how far he goes down before he stops falling will be determined by the spiritual height of his wife. If you are on step number ten and your wife is on step number eight, if you begin to fall, by the time you get to step number eight, your wife will hold you. You can imagine what will happen if your wife is in step number two.

You must intercede for YOUR SELF too. The easiest way to destroy you is through your self. If anybody wants to poison you, all the person has to do is go through your wife. The bible is full of examples of men who fell through their wives. A classical example is Samson in Judges 16. If you know all the trouble Abraham had because he listed to his wife, you will intercede for your wife.

Children should also intercede for their PARENT on a regular basis. If something goes wrong with your parents, you will be called upon to pay. 1 Samuel 31:6 tells us a very sad story about King Saul. King Saul and all his sons died the same day. This was because he offended God. Even Jonathan who was on the side of David was not spared. Once something goes wrong with the father, trouble comes to the son. God says He is a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of father upon sons up to the fourth generation. Do not let your parents get you into trouble. Intercede for them. Pray for the salvation of their souls.

Parent should intercede for their CHILDREN. Intercede for the salvation of the souls of your children. In Samuel 2:27-36, the Almighty God reminded Eli that He had said his father’s house would stand before Him for ever as priests. He said because Eli had honoured his children more than Him, by the time He finishes with him, there would not be any old men in his house. Many of us do not tell the truth to our children may be because we are afraid of them. Probably we do not want to hurt their feelings. Pray for the salvation of the souls of your children so that they will not destroy you.

I have always prayed that my children should be greater than me. This is the only way your family name can continue. If your sons are less tan you, their sons will be less than them. Before you know it, your name will be forgotten. This may be one of the reasons why in Africa, big names do not endure.

Genesis 19:30-38 tells us one of the saddest stories in the bible. There was a man called Lot. The Bible calls him a righteous man. When God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, he rescued Lot, his two daughters and his wife. The wife because she was more interested in material things, looking back and became a pillar of salt. This was loss number one of Lot, apart from losing all is property in Sodom and Gomorrah.
He and his two daughters thereafter went to live in a cave. Because the two daughters were not righteous, they decided to make their father drunk so that he could have sex with them. Their plans succeeded and the first daughter gave birth to Moab while the second one gave birth to Ammonites. They were sons that were caused from the womb. The entire heritage of Lot became evil. Do not rest until your children become born again and burning for the Lord. Do not rest until your children become far superior to you Spiritually.
JESUS IS LORD
